Program Description
2020 Profile of Wyoming

The Profile of Wyoming, sponsored by the Wyoming Community Development Authority, is undertaken bi-annually to continue improving, enhancing, expanding, and making more readily available information about homeownership and rental housing needs in the State. The objective is to continually provide high-quality, relevant information about factors that influence the development, production, use, rehabilitation, and need for housing and housing services in Wyomings’s local communities.

Volume I, the Profile of Wyoming contains information describing the State in its entirety.

Volume II represents a county-by-county analysis, identifying pertinent statistics for all of Wyoming's 23 counties. It is a large report, and as such is released as a two-volume report.

Volume III examines 26 cities in the state. It represents a summary analysis of demographic, economic, and housing statistics, as well as population, rental vacancy data and housing production and cost information.

All historical reports can be found under the "Reports" tab.

    Wyoming Community Development Authority

For more than 35 years, Wyoming Community Development Authority has been making it easier for people accross Wyoming to finance their first home.

We provide low-interest single family mortgages, and education to help our customers buy and retain their homes. We also offer special programs to aid in the sustainability of homeownership. From our down payment assistance program, to homebuyer education and counseling, to our partnerships with developers and our work with non-profit community organizations, Wyoming Community Development Authority is the state’s leading resource for housing finance.

In 1975, the WCDA was created by state statute, as an instrumentality of the state, for the purpose of raising capital to finance affordable housing. WCDA receives no state funding. WCDA’s largest housing program is the Single Family Mortgage Purchase Program for first-time homebuyers. In order to fund this program, WCDA raises capital by selling tax-exempt mortgage revenue bonds to investors. Since the interest on the bonds is tax exempt, the investors accept a lower rate of return. The savings is passed through to homebuyers in the form of lower interest rates on mortgages.

In addition to its single family programs, WCDA currently administers two major affordable rental housing development programs, the Low-income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). These two federal programs have funded more than 4,500 units of affordable rental housing across the state.
